Make sure that the DNS has
resolved for your domain name before you try to publish your site
using FrontPage. Using temporary address based on an IP number may
cause you problems later. It will surely confuse you.
Make sure that the FrontPage extensions are installed for your
domain. Most hosts that do not ask you if you want FrontPage
extensions, install them by default. If you aren't going to publish
with FrontPage you should remove them using your control panel.
If you intend to upload and use any kind of Perl, CGI or PHP script
do not use FrontPage to publish your site. NEVER use FrontPage to
upload any script. It will corrupt them every time. ALWAYS use an
FTP program to upload scripts.
Should you have a site that was published using FrontPage and wish
to add scripts to it, always install them in a separate directory on
the server, create a subweb in FrontPage on your local computer with
the same name as the directory on the server and tell FrontPage not
to publish to that subweb. This local subweb can be empty. This is a
workaround for those of you that feel you must use FrontPage to
publish.
